Here's an idea.
- I use xnviewmp to make images web-ready (batch resize, croppoing, converting, compressing..)
- When this site launched in 2021, it ran using zonelets simple unprofessional blogging engine.
- I host on Neocities which is free.
- Trying websearching around for a "Neocities Beginner's Tutorial".
- Learn to code HTML CSS JS perhaps using mdn or web3schools. Shop around until you find something that sticks to your brain (I am a MDN truther).
- I found Flexbox Froggy and Grid Garden helpful.
- "How did they do that?!" Well... ctrl+shift+C or right click and "inspect" that "element" to find out.
- Beautiful images available at Wikimedia Commons.
- Just google whatever isn't working for you.
And remember:
- First iterations are not final forms. Be proud to be in a process.
- Webdesign is as is all things subject to the artistic process.
- Make a finished product every time -> cut back on your scope instead of being 80% "coming soon" dead links (lol). It is better for you.
- Browse websites that inspire you. Break out of what you're supposed to be doing.
- Take nothing for granted. Question everything.
- Make a guiding list of principles: What do you want it to be? How do you want it to feel? What must it never become?
- Have fun and be yourself!
My list of some inspirations, perhaps not obvious or even instantiated:
